A large number of industrial collaborations throughout France

The number of active projects of the ADEME, FUI, ANR, MRIS, European and IRT Jules Verne type has grown very considerably in the last 5 years (66 contracts).

Rapidly expanding international cooperation

IRDL has increased its international collaborations and continued its strategy of integration into institutional frameworks, at the European and international level.

Setting up a partnership

There are a large number of schemes for developing partnerships.
From simple exchanges to research contracts, the socio-economic and industrial sectors can benefit from IRDL’s know-how

IRDL’s lecturer-researchers are heavily involved in the industrial and institutional research fabric. The know-how and expertise of the engineers and technicians, the experimental equipment and the relevance of the research carried out over many years are all assets favouring close collaboration with local, regional, national and international partners.

The number of active projects of the ADEME, FUI, ANR, MRIS, European and IRT Jules Verne type has grown very considerably in the last 5 years (66 contracts).

IRDL has a very large network of industrial partners which extends over the whole of the French territory. This result is the fruit of the considerable investment made by the lecturer-researchers and of the shared strategy of research activities in the engineering sciences.

All these industrial partnerships and collaborations have allowed the creation of a high number of CIFRE theses.

IRDL has integrated:

  • in 2015 the PSA OpenLab « Computational Mechanics » in partnership with the Materials Centre (UMR 7633) at the Ecole des Mines de Paris and the Laboratoire de Mécanique des Solides (UMR 7649) at the Ecole Polytechnique.
  • in 2016 the Gustave Zédé common laboratory with Naval Group, whose initial work related to material fatigue and naval structures.
  • in 2016 the Institut Carnot AgriFood Transition: R&D in sustainable food, for the health of man and his environment
  • in 2020 the Institut Carnot ARTS: Research Action for Technology and Society

Rapidly expanding international cooperation

International collaborations are also at the heart of the laboratory’s activities. IRDL has increased its international collaborations and continued its strategy of integration into institutional frameworks, at the European and international level. Many exchanges that have been developed have been supported by collaboration programmes and projects: hosting of researchers for short stays, seminars, etc. The large number of jointly supervised theses and periods of research leave on specific topics) are also testimony to the attractiveness of IRDL on the international level.

IRDL has established very close relationships with a large number of foreign universities and allows the promotion of exchanges of lecturer-researchers, researchers and PhD students.

Many PhD students from IRDL carry out stays of a few months in partner laboratories and we host foreign students on master’s degree or PhD courses.
